In wrestling and other hand-to-hand sports competitions, tickling is usually an illegitimate move because it causes an instinctive defense reaction in the opponent to stop muscle contractions in order to defend the ticklish area. It is usually a tactic considered improper and most often ineffective, given the harshness of the competitions. However, in some movies, cartoons and TV shows, tickling is used precisely to evade the opponent's attack, or mainly for comic purposes.
