Tickling is a gimmick often used in movies and TV series set in the past to create gags, to represent a joking way of interaction between individuals even in dark historical eras, or as an actual form of torture.
In the TV series "Xena" there are some tickling scenes, in episodes, bloopers and backstage.

Tickling in "The Ribald Tales of Robin Hood"
Tickling is the body sensation felt when a light body repeatedly grazes certain sensitive areas of the body. This leads the sufferer to instinctively retract in order to defend vulnerable parts.
Ticklers may target precisely this uncontrollable reaction in order to get the victim in trouble, as is the case in "The Ribald Tales of Robin Hood" (1969).
The wicked Lady Sallyforth intends to punish Robin Hood, and to that end she takes it out on his beloved Maid Marian. After capturing and denuding her, she adistically proceeds to tickle her entire body with a feather to force her to move and injure herself with a series of thorns on top of which she is leaning.
The woman does'nt laugh as a consequence of the tickling, but she feels it and desperately tries to resist it to defend herself.
Tickling in "Once upon a horse"
A saloon brawl takes on an increasingly grotesque scenario. A woman, who has had the unfortunate idea of clinging to a chandelier, is thrown against a wall, in which she gets stuck. A dog begins greedily licking her bare feet, causing her to be tremendously tickled. The woman laughs out loud and thrashes, and begs this animal to stop. Finally the dog walks away, making her breathe a sigh of relief.
North To Alaska (1960)
George intends to make Sam jealous in order to push him to declare his feelings for Michelle/Angelo; so he pretends to flirt with the girl.
To attract Sam's attention, he asks Michelle to laugh. The girl tries to laugh but the mood is not right. The man mouths off to amuse her and then asks her if she is ticklish.
Angelo, worried, replies no, but Sam does not believe her.
He places her on the bed and removes a shoe, vigorously tickling her feet.
The woman immediately begins to laugh vigorously and wriggle, but the man restrains her and continues the tickling. Her laughter is so loud that it reaches the ears of Sam, who storms out of the dwelling.
Floris
A girl and an old man are tied to poles: each of them holds a cable holding a precious map with mouth. Some evil individuals have captured them and want to destroy the map. Sadistically, they want the prisoners themselves to destroy it by dropping it into the fire.
To force the girl to open her mouth and destroy the map, the torturers begin in team to tickle her hips and under her armpits. The woman begins to laugh madly but tries desperately to keep her lips together.
