"North to Alaska" is a western romantic comedy developed around the classic love triangle.
George intends to make Sam jealous in order to push him to declare his feelings for Michelle/Angelo; so he pretends to flirt with the girl.
To attract Sam's attention, he asks Michelle to laugh. The girl tries to laugh but the mood is not right. The man mouths off to amuse her and then asks her if she is ticklish.
Angelo, worried, replies no, but Sam does not believe her.
He places her on the bed and removes a shoe, vigorously tickling her feet.
The woman immediately begins to laugh vigorously and wriggle, but the man restrains her and continues the tickling. Her laughter is so loud that it reaches the ears of Sam, who storms out of the dwelling.
Tickling in "North to Alaska"
In this case, laughter is apparently a sign of happiness and complicity of a woman and a man, so it produces jealousy in another lover. Actually, it's only a physiological response given by tickling, that forces to laugh even when one is not in the mood.
